STORYSTORY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Last updated: February 13th, 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the StoryStory platform (“StoryStory,” “we,” “us,” “our”) and any services provided through it. By creating an account, submitting a manuscript, purchasing a plan/order, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Status of Relationship

1.1 You (“Creator,” “you,” “your”) are a client purchasing services from StoryStory Ltd (“Company,” “we,” “us,” “our”).
1.2 Nothing in these Terms creates any employment relationship, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and the Company. You have no authority to bind the Company.

2. Nature of the Service

2.1 StoryStory is a curated story development and production service. We provide editorial support, artist collaboration, workflow management, and asset delivery through a structured platform.
2.2 StoryStory is not an open publishing marketplace and does not guarantee publication, audience distribution, commercial performance, or market success.

3. Accounts, Sign-In, and Communications

3.1 You agree to:

  • Create and access your account using Google sign-in

  • Receive system emails related to your project, including notifications, approvals, revisions, billing, and support communications

  • Allow project-related data (including manuscripts, artwork, logs, and communications) to be stored on StoryStory servers for the purpose of delivering the service.

4. Manuscripts and Submissions

4.1 Unaccepted submissions: Manuscripts submitted for consideration but not accepted may be permanently deleted within 30 days.
4.2 Access controls: Manuscripts accepted into development remain accessible only to assigned collaborators (e.g., your editor, assigned artist, and necessary admins).
4.3 Chapter manuscript handling and versioning:

  • Chapters are created/managed by the assigned Editor as part of the workflow.

  • For each Chapter, you may upload a manuscript PDF.

  • You may upload revised manuscript versions for the same Chapter as additional versions (prior versions are retained for reference and logging).

  • Once production work begins for a Chapter based on a submitted version, you acknowledge that late changes may require a new set of revision instructions and may impact timelines.

4.4 You retain full creative ownership of your manuscripts (subject to Section 12 licensing for promotional use).

5. Plans, Orders, and Time-Limited Quotas

5.1 When you purchase a plan or order (“Order”):

  • You are purchasing a defined quota of work (e.g., pages or panels) for a specific billing period

  • Any unused quota expires at the end of the billing period

  • Unused panels, pages, or time do not carry over

  • Expired quotas are forfeited with no claim or compensation

5.2 Once an Order is confirmed, its specifications cannot be changed unless approved in writing by a StoryStory admin (including via platform support confirmation).
5.3 Unused panel quotas expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over.

6. Pricing and Plan Variations

6.1 Prices, packages, and availability may change over time. StoryStory reserves the right to:

  • Offer different pricing for different Orders

  • Adjust pricing for future Orders

  • Offer custom plans at our discretion

6.2 Pricing changes do not affect already-confirmed Orders.
6.3 Illustration rate examples (non-binding unless confirmed in your Order): Where illustration support is provided, typical rates may include examples such as £250/month for 50 panels, £500/month for 100 panels, or £1,000/month for 200 panels (subject to your accepted offer, staffing availability, and plan terms).

7. Payments, Failed Payments, and Order Suspension

7.1 Pay-before-work rule: Payment must be received in full for the billing period before work will commence for that Order period.
7.2 If a payment fails:

  • The associated Order is immediately suspended/closed

  • Work stops immediately upon failure

  • A new Order is required to resume work

  • There is no grace period following a failed payment

7.3 Access to previously approved files: Previously approved and released files generally remain downloadable. However, we may restrict access where required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, abuse, or circumvention enforcement (see Sections 14–16).

8. Refund Policy and Service-Based Compensation

8.1 Once an Order is confirmed and work has commenced, the Order is non-refundable.
8.2 Where compensation is due because of Company fault, such compensation will be provided in the form of additional service time or a replacement Order period, except where a monetary refund is required by applicable law.

9. Workflow and Editorial Oversight

9.1 Projects are structured into Chapters created and managed by the assigned Editor.
9.2 You acknowledge that editorial oversight is a core component of the service.
9.3 Pages/files require approval from both the Creator and the assigned Editor before finalisation and release.
9.4 If you dispute editorial conduct, you may submit a support request for review. Replacement of personnel is reviewed case-by-case and is at the Company’s discretion.

10. Revisions and Approvals

10.1 Deliverables are submitted as Pages.
10.2 Each Page may receive up to three (3) revision passes from the Creator.
10.3 The Editor may also have up to three (3) revision passes for quality control and production requirements.
10.4 Revision requests must be submitted through the platform with consolidated written instructions (avoid fragmented requests).
10.5 Excessive revision volume may impact timelines.
10.6 Revision volume threshold: If you submit twelve (12) or more revision requests within a single billing period, entitlement to timeline extension may be waived where delay is attributable to revision volume.

Artists are given the ability to mark up to 5 panels in each chapter with the “complex” tag after the manuscript is submitted but before the work starts. The creator can either go back and simplify the panel detail, or approve it as complex. Panels with this tag count as two panels in the order instead of one.

11. Watermarks, Clean Files, and Source Files

11.1 All deliverables are watermarked upon submission.
11.2 Clean files become available only after dual approval and editorial release.
11.3 Source files are not included unless explicitly purchased.
11.4 Source files remain locked until:

  • Full chapter approval

  • Editorial release

  • Applicable fees are paid
11.5 StoryStory reserves the right to withhold source files for quality control and platform integrity.

12. Artists, Availability, and Substitution

12.1 StoryStory does not guarantee a specific artist unless expressly agreed in writing.
12.2 Returning clients may be prioritised for artist continuity. If you pause or discontinue service, your artist may be reassigned without dispute.
12.3 If an assigned Artist is unavailable:

  • Absence of up to 3 consecutive working days in a billing period allows you to request a substitute artist

  • Absence of up to 10 consecutive working days allows you to request complimentary additional services or a free additional Order period

  • Such remedies are subject to Company review and approval

13. Three-Strike Service Breach Resolution

13.1 StoryStory operates a mutual three-strike system tracked through platform logs and task records.

StoryStory Strikes: If delays or failures attributable to StoryStory occur three times within an Order period due to internal fault resulting in delays in final delivery or Order failure:

  • You are granted one additional Order period free of charge

  • You may request a new editor and artist (subject to availability and review)

Client Strikes: If you fail to complete assigned to-dos or respond within required timeframes three times within an Order period:

  • All claims relating to delays or service breaches are waived

  • No compensation or extensions apply

14. Non-Circumvention and Platform Integrity

14.1 You agree not to:

  • Contact, hire, solicit, or engage StoryStory artists or editors outside the platform

  • Attempt to bypass the Company’s payment systems

  • Circumvent StoryStory systems, workflows, or agreements
14.2 Breach may result in immediate termination without refund or compensation and may include access restrictions (see Section 16).

15. Conduct and Abuse

15.1 You must conduct yourself professionally.
15.2 Abusive, hostile, harassing, or disrespectful behaviour toward staff may result in:

  • Immediate Order termination

  • No refund or compensation

  • Permanent account restriction where appropriate

16. Intellectual Property and Licensing

16.1 You retain ownership of:

  • Your story

  • Your manuscript

  • Your characters

  • Final approved artwork produced for your project

16.2 By using StoryStory, you grant the Company a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use produced artwork, characters, and story elements for marketing, promotional, advertising, sales related to StoryStory, and portfolio purposes, including creation of derivative promotional materials.
16.3 This licence does not grant StoryStory publishing rights unless separately agreed in writing.

17. Project Logs and Monitoring

17.1 All actions on the platform are logged, including uploads, approvals, revisions, assignments, deletions, and administrative actions. Logs are immutable and exist to ensure transparency and dispute resolution.
17.2 By using the platform, you consent to this logging.

18. Limitation of Liability

18.1 The Company shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits.
18.2 Total liability is limited to fees paid for the most recent completed Order period, except where prohibited by law.
18.3 StoryStory is not liable for creative dissatisfaction where services were rendered as agreed.

19. Termination and Enforcement

19.1 StoryStory may suspend or terminate access for: breach of these Terms, abuse of staff, circumvention of platform systems, or non-payment.
19.2 Upon termination, access to previously approved files may remain available; however, StoryStory reserves the right to restrict access where required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or enforcement of Sections 14–15.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remainder remains valid.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding use of the platform and the services, and supersede any prior drafts or templates, except where you and the Company have separately agreed in writing to additional terms for a specific Order.
